I agree with your thought but a blog is also part of Web 2.0 Marketing just as is social networking. Don't you agree?

Fantastic post and diagram Mike.

I'd just suggest a little complexity ... to have the blog be a funnel from the outer circle. The reason is, a blog is like home while web2.0 is like a party. Not always would one call a new friend over to "office" from a party, right?

Also, one CAN use facebook for business quite well. I have a post here about it here http://fb.DoOnlineBusiness.info

Thank you Donna. I agree. There is so much I would like to say but the post would be so long that no one would finish it. Thanks for your contribution.

Thanks for this analysis. Using social media/web 2.0 for professional reasons can be frustrating because there are so many moving parts, and every day there are more. But the benefits far outweigh the efforts. There are so many sites where you can obtain information, and people to connect with who are willing to share information that I can't even imagine life without these resources anymore. And, as you said, there is the personal side: "meeting" and interacting with people online has allowed me to create relationships with people I've come to enjoy and trust. This has been a real joy. So you have to come at it with the right mindset.

This isn't just about getting something for nothing. This also isn't about advertising. It's about creating those relationships, learning how to participate in this giant party, learning, giving back and in the process, showing others that you can be trusted and relied on to perform whatever services you have to offer. When I first put my feet in the water, I came across a reference to a book called "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0470743085?ie=UTF8&tag=amersbestbusi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0470743085" rel="nofollow">Trust Agents</a>" by Chris Brogan. I had no idea what that meant. Now I do, and it's exciting to be part of "conversation".
